Ty Lawson Arrested: DUI Suspicion

Early Friday morning, the Denver Police confirmed that Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was arrested on suspicion of DUI. According to the probable cause document, Lawson was traveling at a speed of 60mph in a zone where the posted speed limit is 35mph.

At 1:19am, the Denver police made the arrest with Lawson telling police he had consumed alcohol prior to getting behind the wheel. Police said that Lawson’s breath had a strong odor of alcohol; he had bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech.

When police conducted a field sobriety test, Lawson performed unsatisfactorily. After being arrested, he refused a chemical test. Per his request, the Denver Nuggets point guard was later jailed without valid identification.  On Friday, the Nuggets issued a statement stating that they were aware of Lawson’s situation but due to team policy and respect for the legal process, had no further comments at the moment.
