It’s as if it is almost becoming a “thing” for the city of Miami, another holiday weekend bringing another boating death, which makes seven so far in 2014. On Columbus Day weekend, a young woman was killed when one boat collided with another. The fatal crash occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday when two boats collided about three and a half miles southwest of Biscayne Channel. Is reported that, a 63-foot Sea Ray yacht struck a 27-foot fishing boat. Flipping over the smaller vessel and dumping its three passengers into the water.
The impact killed 29-year-old Maria Del Valle while leaving the other two injured. No one on the yacht was hurt. The deadly accident occurred even with the increased of safety measures from previous water accidents. Just as recent as July 4th there was a three-boat collision that killed four young locals, as well as, the tragic accident that involved one of Miami’s most notorious DJ Laz, when a 23-year-old security guard was sucked into the propellers of a speed boat that was driven by DJ Laz at the time. These events encouraged authorities to launch a special task force to crack down on drunken and dangerous boating, It's uncertain if alcohol played a role in Saturday's accident.
