411 Pain - The Truth About Clubbing And Driving

411 Pain - The Truth About Clubbing And Driving

Everyone knows that drinking and driving is not only illegal - it can be deadly!
So what to do?
411 Pain offers the following tips for enjoying yourself while staying safe:

WALK If you're lucky enough to live in a place where you can walk to the clubs, then you're set to go! (As long as you don't drink so much that you can't even walk home...)

CAB When club hopping, take a cab in between. It's actually cheaper than paying for parking - especially in places like SOBE! (South Beach, Miami Beach, Florida) If you choose to stay at one club, take a cab home. Split the cost with your friends and everyone gets home safe.

DESIGNATED DRIVER Not everyone drinks, and not everyone who drinks does so all the time. Maybe one of your friends has something to do the next day and doesn't want to be hungover. See if you can find someone who will not be drinking (at all - not even a sip!) and let them be the chauffeur.

STAY AT A MOTEL Again, this can be cheaper than parking, especially when splitting the cost amongst friends. When you're done with the club, take the party back to the motel!

STAY AT A FRIEND'S Maybe you live far from the clubs, but one of your friends lives in walking distance. Tell your friend you'll buy the drinks if you can stay over at their house after the club. There are many ways to party WITHOUT getting in a car after you've been drinking.

411 Pain

And there are many places to party.
If it's Saturday and you're in Orlando Florida, head on over to The Beacham for 1-800-411-PAIN Swirl Saturdays. Every third week you have a chance to win your share of $1000 for having 1 800 411-PAIN programmed in your phone!

Join 411 Pain on Friday March 22nd at Mavericks in Jacksonville Florida to see Billy Currington and win cash by having 1-800-411-PAIN programmed in your phone!

411-Pain, the leader in road safety awareness reminds you to PLEASE: NEVER drink and drive, NEVER text and drive and ALWAYS wear your seat belt.

411 Pain - The Truth About Driving In Snow

411 Pain - The Truth About Driving In Snow

A snow storm can be fun for snowball fights and kid's may be happy about getting off from school,
but snow can be a serious hazard to drive in, especially if you're not prepared.

There are over 1.5 million car crashes per year due to bad weather, with an estimated 7000 deaths and 800,000 injuries!

411-Pain offers the following advice to help keep YOU from being among them:

When the first snow of the year falls, remember your skills are rusty. Take it easy - slow down and make sure to leave EXTRA room between you and the car ahead of you. Double or triple your normal following distance. For every 10mph of speed you should have 4 car lengths ahead to allow sufficient time to break. If you're going 30mph, you should have a 12 car span between you and the car in front.

411 Pain truth about snow

Don't be fooled - just because you're on the highway and all looks clear doesn't mean it's safe to drive your normal speed. It takes between 4 and 10 times longer to brake on ice or snow! Remember - there is no correct speed in bad weather; it all depends an the road conditions, your car & you. Even if there is no ice or snow on the ground yet, slow down when snow, sleet or freezing rain first begin to fall.
411 Pain
Make sure you have the proper tires. While all weather tires do provide more traction, if you live in an area that gets frequent and heavy snow, snow tires are your best choice. Your tires should have at least a 6/32-inch tread.

Don't be lulled into a false sense of safety just because you have four wheel drive. This helps to give more traction, but it does not make up for poor winter weather driving skills and smart safety precautions.

If you feel your car start to slip and slide,  remain calm and DON'T BRAKE! This will not help get your traction back. Ease off the gas and let the car slow naturally while steering your car in the direction you want to go - away from the way you are skidding. If you do need to brake, apply steady and even pressure  if you have anti-lock brakes as most modern cars do. If you have an older car without anti-lock breaks, then quickly keep braking over and over. ("pump the brake")

Keep your car equipped with some basic emergency items such as a scraper, a snow shovel, some sand or cat litter, a flare and a flashlight. Also water, snacks and a blanket in case you are still unable to dig yourself out and you need to wait for rescue.

411 Pain, the leader in road safety awareness, tells you the truth about driving in snow to keep you safe on the road no matter what the conditions.
Everyone at 411-Pain reminds you to PLEASE:
Never text and drive, never drink and drive and always wear your seat belt.

411 Pain Blog: Road Trips and Rest Stops

411 Pain Blog: Road Trips and Rest Stops

Road Trips and Rest Stops

Road trips are a great way to travel. They allow you to move at your own pace
and offer the opportunity to see parts of the country, airplanes fly over and trains
speed past.  The key to making the most of this slice of Americana is maintaining
comfort by getting enough rest.

Rest Stop Safety

411 Pain recommends all who will be driving on the road trip get plenty of sleep
the night before the journey.  Being alert and well rested is the safest way to hit the road.
When you need a break or a chance to stretch your legs, rest areas may be
the way to go.  But it is best to visit them in broad daylight and when you have an
adult traveling companion.   While the rest areas can be a valuable oasis to weary drivers,
they have also become a place for criminals to find easy targets . Motorists have been robbed, raped,
carjacked, and even killed while simply trying to get a cat nap or a break at highway
rest stops.  411 pain advises drivers to consider logging on to the Interstate Travel Guide.
It is a directory of  rest stops across the country that offer security and other services like gas and food.

Car Comforts

Another option for a brief break from the road, can be the parking lots of 24 hour businesses.
411 Pain has this word of warning, before pulling into that parking spot, look for signs which prohibit
trespassing or loitering. Failure to do so and that quick 15 minute nap in the front seat could lead to a fine as
high as the price of a night at a hotel.  It can't hurt to go into the business and ask to speak to
the manager to get permission to park in the lot.   Also if you chose to sleep in your car, be very, very
careful.  Be aware of your surroundings; cover your windows with sheets or tarps so passers by can't see you sleeping; the key is to draw as little attention to yourself so as not to become a crime victim.
Make sure you have things to make your car stay comfortable.  Books and magazines are a good
choice.  Music not so much, it may prove distracting and if too loud, will alert others to your presence.

For a Few Dollars More

If your road trip budget can be stretched at bit more, the safest option is always to spend the night
in a hotel. There are plenty of affordable options listed on both travel websites and smartphone
apps.  Also, if traveling with small children, consider a campground. It can add an adventurous aspect
to your road trip. Most are clean, secure and offer lodging choices ranging from tents to cottages so there's
something for every comfort level.

Remember the Sleep Bank

So when you are saving up for that road trip, short or long, include time and money for rest in the budget.
No one knows better than you how much sleep you need a night or how comfortable you need to be to get
good rest.  411 Pain reminds us,  no one wants to risk their life riding with a drowsy driver. And nothing puts the brakes on fun faster on a road trip than an irascible captain of the ship.

411 PAIN Reminds You: Do Not Drive When You're Tired

411 PAIN Reminds You: Do Not Drive When You're Tired

Everyone knows that drunk driving, speeding and distracted driving (texting especially) are the most common causes of accidents. But most people forget one of the main culprits:
Driving While Tired.

Here are some results from a 2010 AAA survey:

Two out of five drivers (41%) said they had fallen asleep or dozed while behind the wheel.

Drivers 16-24 were more likely to have fallen asleep at the wheel within the past year and drivers 19-29 are more likely of all the age groups to drive while tired.

Men were more likely to report having ever fallen asleep while driving.

Of those who reported falling asleep at the wheel in the past year, over 26% had done so between noon and 5PM, about the same number as those reporting having fallen asleep while driving between midnight and 6AM.

People who sleep six to seven hours a night are twice as likely to be involved in such a crash as those sleeping 8 hours or more, while people sleeping less than 5 hours increased their risk four to five times.

411 pain found that a study by researchers in Australia showed that being awake for 18 hours produced an impairment equal to a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .05, and an impairment equal to a BAC of .10 after 24 hours. (A BAC of .08 is considered legally drunk)

56% of drivers stated that the last occurrence of falling asleep at the wheel occurred on a multi-lane divided highway.

411 Pain would like you to stay safe !
Almost 59% of those having fallen asleep while driving within the past year had been driving for less than an hour before they dozed off compared to almost 21% who had been driving for at least 3 hours.

Of all the people who fell asleep while driving during the past year, 71% had felt awake enough to drive. Only a little under 28% had any idea that they might be too sleepy to drive.

As you can plainly see by these statistics alone, driving while sleepy, drowsy, tired or any other variation is just as dangerous as drunken and distracted driving. In a sense it's as if you ARE drunk and distracted!
The recommended solution is to try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night.
And if you don't or can't and still need to drive, take a nap before heading out on the road, whether it be where you are, or by pulling off the road. It could save a life!

411 PAIN, the leader in road safety awareness, urges you to not drive while drowsy!

411 Pain: Taking Care of Your Tires to Prevent Car Accidents

Ever ask yourself, are my tires safe? and when is the right time to change them? Not a lot of drivers realize that car tires are critical to the safety, performance and efficiency of their cars.

Taking care of your car’s tires has a lot of advantages, such as durability, handling, and performance, as well as offering you with a smoother ride and better gas mileage, not to mention driver safety.  According to the N.H.T.S.A. about 400 fatalities annually may have been attributed to tire failures.
411-pain
411 Pain understands that tires, like any other car part, need proper care to perform and last. The good news is that proper tire maintenance is quite simple.

Many drivers don't realize that tires have an expiration date. Tire makers  state 8 years is a reasonable useful lifespan for a tire, depending on how often they are used. At some point they start to loose traction and braking ability.

There are many reasons why tires start wearing out. Sometimes an alignment problem on a vehicle causes tires to wear unevenly. This can cause a tire to need replacement long before it normally would. Also examine your tires to make sure any harmful objects, such as glass, nails, debris, rocks or metal is not causing any gradual damage to your tires.

Tire Tips

The most important aspect in caring for your tires is maintaining the correct  pressure. More than a quarter of all passenger vehicles on U.S. roads have significantly low pressure on their tires. Drivers should check their tires regularly  and before every long trip to see that they’re properly inflated. Keeping your tires properly inflated not only increases your car's fuel efficiency but also improves your car's handling, braking ability and ride quality.

Make sure to avoid potholes and other road debris if you can, since those things can knock your tires out of alignment or damage the tires themselves. Considering that the average cost of a replacement tire has jumped nearly $40 over the past ten years, getting more use out of your tires makes a lot of sense.

You always want your best tires on the front. A blowout in the rear is dangerous and problematic, but a blowout on the front is more likely to lead to a car accident. You also need the traction on the front for stopping much more than you need traction on the rear for acceleration. To further extend the mileage you get from your tires, it is important to rotate your tires every 6,000 to 7,500 miles to even out the wear.

For our drivers that live in warmer areas, remember that tires tend to age faster in warmer climates.

Knowing how to take care of your tires will help you save money, protect you and others. 1-800-411-Pain recommends to take five minutes a week to check and care for your tires to increased tire life, improved economy, increased safety, and peace of mind. Additionally, making your tires last as long as possible is the environmentally sound thing to do. Unfortunately car accidents still can happen. and when they do 411 Pain is there for you.

411 Pain : FHP defends actions during multiple car crash

At 411 Pain we are continuously informing our readers about auto related incidents occurring on our streets and highways, in order to keep them updated regarding car safety and any change in laws.

A few months ago we reported an accident that occurred on Jan. 29, which involved numerous cars crashing into each other along Interstate 75 near Gainesville due to a mix of fog and smoke. Unfortunately the consequences of this accident were 11 people dying and few dozen sustaining injuries.

After the incident many questions arouse on who was to blame. As smoke mixed with fog visibility  decreased The Florida Highway Patrol closed the road in order to avoid any disasters. But after they began seeing it clear up, they believed it was safe to reopen.  Many people held the FHP responsible due to their lack of control and poor decision-making. Because of these accusations the Florida Highway Patrol issued a report on August 10th defending its actions taken the day of the fatal crashes; suggesting that irregular weather and drivers mistakes made it unlikely that any amount of planning or procedure could have prevented the deaths. FHP laid significant blame on drivers themselves, not law enforcement.

As many as a dozen victims of the collisions are planning to sue the Florida Highway Patrol and many of the investigations are still pending.

This story demonstrates just how quickly a car accident can occur and how much damage can happen with no warning. As a company dedicated to driver safety, 1-800-411-Pain strongly advises drivers to pay attention when driving and operating a vehicle. Even small distractions can lead to fatal accidents.

Drinking & Driving 411 Pain Awareness

Drinking & Driving 411 Pain Awareness

It’s always sad to hear stories of people getting injured in car accidents. Unfortunately it is very common. However it’s even sadder to find out they were the cause of driving under the influence of alcohol. Cdc.gov reports that there are thirty alcohol related fatalities every day in the United States. This is the equivalent of one fatality every 48 minutes. Most of these accidents are caused by drivers negligence or being under the influence of substances.

Most recently we heard about six people that were sent to the hospital following a three-car accident in Las Vegas on May 20, 2012. The accident occurred at the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Nellis Boulevard. Authorities believe that alcohol may have been a factor. Fortunately the victims in Vegas came out ok, but not everyone is so lucky. It’s very common to read about individuals seriously getting injured or loosing their lives in vehicle related incidents. At 411 Pain we strive to educate individuals off all ages on safe driving practices, and encourage exercising them on a daily basis.

Like this story we see hundreds everyday, at 411Pain we strongly discourage the consumption of alcohol while operating a motor vehicle. As a company dedicated to safer driving practices, 1 800 411 Pain recommends adhering to all road laws. Creating programs that educate, not just drivers but all individuals in avoiding situations where people get into vehicles while intoxicated.   Not only is drinking and driving irresponsible and dangerous, it is also illegal. Serious repercussions await individuals who are convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Help make the roads a safer place for everyone. Do not drink and drive.

Police say that the driver was “Traveling north on the highway at about 10 p.m. when he collided with a Subaru turning left from Route 19 onto Rowan Road in the opposite direction (cranberry.patch.com).”

Three Vehicle Accident on the 411 Pain blog

Three Vehicle Accident Sends
Two to the Hospital
A three vehicle accident in Hickory, N.C. on July 8, 2012 resulted in a married couple having to be transported to the hospital. Witnesses say that the accident was caused by the driver of a white Honda Civic, who ran a red light and collided with an SUV. After striking the SUV, causing it to flip over, the Honda then struck a separate vehicle that was waiting at a red light.
The driver of the Honda Civic was traveling with her three children. None of the children were injured in the accident. The driver did not sustain life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the SUV acquired the most severe injuries during the accident. They had to be cut out of their vehicle. Officers said that it looked as though she had a broken leg.
Terrible accidents can be avoided by simply following the law. Had the woman driving the Honda Civic not ran the red light, this accident would never have happened. 1 800 411 Pain strongly advises that all motorists adhere to traffic laws at all times. Something as simple as stopping at a stop sign or red light can be the deciding factor in whether or not an accident occurs. Car Accident Injures Six Teens
An early morning car accident in Alameda, California has left six teenagers injured. The driver was a fifteen year old boy who had taken his parent’s vehicle without their permission. Four of the passengers involved were also fifteen year olds. One passenger was thirteen. The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 in the morning. None of the vehicle’s occupants had permission from their parents to be out at that time.
The driver apparently crashed into a tree. The cause of the accident is currently unknown. Authorities are investigating whether alcohol was a factor. Every person involved in the crash suffered injuries, but none as seriously as the driver. 1 800 411 Pain understands that an auto accident can occur unexpectedly and usually allow little or no time to react. This is why 1 800 411 Pain advises that motorists be as alert as possible while driving.
